Court Complex Amenities Refurbished

IRCC upgrades tennis courts, shuffleboard, bocce, more

Life for the active adults at Indian River Colony Club (IRCC) in Viera just got a little better, with the complete renovation of their tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, bocce courts and surrounding recreation area. A haven for veterans, Indian River Colony Club is known for its par-72 private golf course and patriotic culture. The gated community of nearly 800 single-family homes maintains a slate of resort-style amenities for active adults aged 55 and over. During the half million-dollar renovation process, the community’s three Har-Tru tennis courts were completely replaced, and an underground HydroCourt self-regulating irrigation system installed, to water the courts from below. The courts are protected by a new tennis windscreen with the updated community logo. The existing bocce courts were resurfaced using artificial turf, while the shuffleboard courts were upgraded with interlocking VersaCourt tiles. All of the courts in the complex are now considered professional level playing surfaces. A 1600 sq foot artificial turf area for competition cornhole play was added to the court complex. Additionally, 5000 sq feet of pavers were installed in the covered recreation area, along with decorative fencing and new landscaping.

John Robinson, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of Indian River Colony Club is proud of the community he has managed since 2005. The 22-year Navy veteran has much in common with the members who comprise IRCC.

“Indian River Colony Club has been a model of community excellence in Viera for almost 40 years,” said Robinson.” The amenities here are second to none, and anyone who has driven through IRCC knows the entire neighborhood is meticulously maintained. It’s what we mean by ‘service to those who served.'”
