(VIERA, FL) March 24, 2026 – The members of Indian River Colony Club in Viera know something about service. The Viera 55+ golf community for military veterans recently flipped the script on their employees, becoming servers during a March 10 luncheon for all staff and management. IRCC Board Members were ready as employees filed into the At Ease Club for a catered barbeque buffet prepared by My Island Smokehouse. Soon, Board members were shaking hands, refilling glasses and busing tables. As a slide show of employee photographs scrolled, Chairman of the Board, Colleen Ward took to the microphone to express the community’s heartfelt thanks to the community’s 120 staff members. IRCC staff provide management, administration, maintenance, and hospitality/culinary services for the Viera neighborhood of nearly 800 homes. Viera’s very first community, Indian River Colony Club recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary. “It was an honor as a resident and member of the IRCC Board to serve our wonderful staff who work so hard year-round taking care of us,” said Schor. “We wanted them to know just how appreciated they are by our members.”

“I had the pleasure of being served alongside staff, and it was a gracious gesture that did not go unnoticed,” said Shonkwiler. “Seeing our Board members personally serve employees from all departments—community maintenance, golf course and landscape maintenance, administrative staff, as well as our food & beverage and kitchen teams—really spoke volumes.”

“Throughout the event, I heard several comments from team members about how appreciated they felt,” continued Shonkwiler. “One that stood out was, ‘This is why it means so much to work here—you can feel that they genuinely care about us.’ That sentiment was echoed across the room.”
